Instructables has many delightful projects ranging from simple to complex. Many have high quality how-to videos and step by step instructions. Click here to browse the many Instructables projects.
Nova Labs Members also have great ideas for projects! These may be more advanced and tend not to have how-to videos or instructions, so you'll have to do your own research based on the idea description. However, that allows you to let your creativity take flight!
- Create a large hopper-style pet food dispenser or storage bin that is attractive enough to be kept in the home, keeps pets and ants out and is easy to clean. One should be able to pour a 40-pound bag of dog food into the top, and dispense a cupful of kibble from the bottom or front. Inspiration for this idea are automatic feeders (but can close the bottom for those who don't want to free-feed), or feed hoppers for farm animals.
- In-home bump warning system for sight-impaired pets. The idea is small sensors that can be attached to walls and/or furniture, with a special collar that vibrates or beeps quietly to warn the pet of the proximity of the wall/furniture. This will teach sight-impaired pets the configuration of the home for confident living, and to prevent accidents.
- Pet watering station that can be hooked up to a kitchen or bathroom faucet and drain, to provide a steady supply of fresh, running water. Lots of pets prefer fresh running water over still, stagnant water. This idea also eliminates the need for constantly refreshing the pet's water bowl.
- Pet watering station that corrals splashing. Owners of big dogs know that they are sloppy drinkers. Stepping in puddles in the kitchen is no fun!
