In an Emergency:

Call 911

1. Attend to any injury or evacuation immediately.
2. Wait on-site in a safe area for emergency personnel.
3. As soon as possible, report the incident to one or all of the designated responsible officials noted above.

Alerts:

In an emergency, personnel are alerted by:

• Verbal announcements via intercom or other means. (Note: Intercom system is pending installation.)
• Automatic fire sprinkler system activation.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION

• Evacuation routes:
  • Maps are posted in each work area. The following information is marked on each map:
    • Emergency exits
    • Primary and secondary evacuation routes
    • Locations of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, eyewash stations and AED
    • Assembly points
  • Site personnel should know at least two evacuation routes.
  • Maps are posted in Orange Bay, Innovation Center, Robotics/Events Space, Woodshop, Metal Shop, and Blacksmith Shops. Copies of these maps are included here following this page.
• Accounting: Accounting for all personnel following an evacuation is critical. Confusion in the assembly areas can delay rescuing anyone trapped in the building or unnecessary and dangerous search-and-rescue operations. Therefore, after an emergency evacuation, the following should occur:
  • All personnel in Nova Labs should quickly and safely go to the assembly point in the front parking lot on the south side of Nova Labs (3900 Jermantown Rd.)
  • Members should take a head count and ensure no one is unaccounted for.
  • Designate one person to communicate with Emergency Personnel.
  • Give Emergency Personnel the last known location of unaccounted-for persons. (DO NOT REENTER BUILDING or interfere with rescue operations.)
  • Note that Nova Labs has designated safe rooms (Areas of Refuge) within the building for violence or active shooter situations. Give Emergency Personnel information on room locations.
