Checking alignment
There's a plug with a wire cross that inserts next to the head. For each corner, and the center:
insert paper, fire laser, remove the paper, check dot.
The laser dot should be centered, and just below the horizontal - and it should be identical for each position.
Front to Back is off
Rear mirror needs alignment
- If mirror is higher at the front, mirror needs to angle downwards more.
- It's rare for this to need adjustment - it doesn't move under normal operation.
Left to Right variance
Gantry Y mirror needs alignment.
- if mirror is higher on right side, mirror needs to angle down further.
Adjusting the mirrors
- There are three screws - in a 90 degree formation.
- Do not turn the 'corner' screw - that shares an axis with both of the other screws.
- One corner for X, one corner for Y adjustments.
- Use thin paper over mirror.
- Start with mirror close to tube/previous mirror
- Hit laser, record dot. This is your Goal Dot for the other dot - you can't adjust the close dot much.
