Community Best Practices
- Suggested laser usage during busy periods of 2-hour limit per day and 8 hours per week so that multiple people can get their projects done. Follow the good neighbor policy and communicate on slack if you have a unique need.
- For those with additional time needs or who doing business production, an additional laser is available as part of the Innovation Center membership. High quality, no waiting, +Adobe Suite.
- IC also has a fiber laser capable of marking metal.
- Consider downloading RDWorks (free, pc only) or Lightburn (paid Mac/pc/linux) so you can set up jobs on your personal machine prior to coming in; Lightburn discount code is available on Notion.
- Leave time in your reservation to save files, return settings to their defaults, clean the laser, and tidy up the laser room.
- Be considerate and consider coming in on off hours, especially leading into the holidays.
- When arriving for your reservation, giving someone 10-15 minutes to wrap up their session illustrates the community team spirit; that person taking more than 30 minutes to wrap up puts them squarely in violation of Nova Lab's golden rule - "Don't be a jerk.”
