Before plugging-in machine inspect the following:

• Verify power cord and plug are free from damage.
• Verify fence, spring-operation, knobs and bit are working and are for damage or evidence of being dropped or abused.
• Verify cutter bit is proper size.

Before turning machine on verify the following:

• Cutting depth is set for material thickness.
• Height on Fence is adjusted and tightened.
• Angle on Fence is adjusted and tightened.
• Width on Mortise is adjusted.
• Inspect workpiece for items which might damage the cutting bit or cause injury to the operator. [staples, open knots for instance.]
• Secure and support the workpiece using clamps, bench vices or appropriate weights.
• Ensure material is well supported or clamped securely.
• Dust collection is recommended to keep machine from clogging.

During operation:

• Use two hands to hold machine when engaging the work.
• Keep fingers and hands clear of moving parts and the cutting bit.
