Nova Labs Class# MAK-101
Description
We teach the basics of soldering to students who have little or no soldering experience. This class is meant to educate a student on proper soldering techniques and tooling. At the end of this class, students will walk away with the knowledge required to assemble through-hole components to a printed circuit board, and a finished device from a pre-ordered kit.
Come out to meet fellow Makers and learn something!
Curriculum
- Explain flux, temperature, tip size and shape
- Explain solder ingredients and uses
- Proper tool care - how and why maintain your soldering tools?
- Demonstrate cold joints, 'flash soldering', and desoldering
- Demonstrate efficient soldering procedures, from turning on the iron to completed assembly
- Assemble a pre-ordered thru-hole electronics kit (Simon Game from Sparkfun) or bring your own!
- We'll provide all tools necessary to complete the kit!
